How Pre-Arrival Works

These wines are currently on the way to Thatcher’s Wine. We have sourced them from some of our clients' private cellars, our friends in Europe, direct from the domaine or through our other trusted networks. On each product you will note an estimated time of arrival. Understand that these are only estimates, and to ensure that your wine arrives safely it may be longer. Utilizing this method allows us to offer some amazing wines and gives you the opportunity to secure them earlier. Upon arrival at TWC you will receive a notification and we will ship the wines to you.

Undoubtedly one of the finest producers of Burgundy, Ramonet's bottles are highly coveted and incredibly age-worthy. Consistently a source of top Bourgogne- and Village-level wines, their Grand Crus are among the greatest wines of any vintage.

Jean-Claude Ramonet

Begun by Pierre Ramonet in the 1920s, today the estate is run by Jean-Claude, who has taken the Ramonet name to an absolute Apex. Pierre, however, had a premonition and had saved his earnings to purchase the plot of the most famous white vineyard in the world, that of Montrachet, and in 1978 Ramonet's top wine was produced for the very first time.

Pierre's son Andre ran the estate until his passing in 2011, at which point Jean-Claude and his brother Noel took over, having been active in the production for several decades at that point. With the newest chapter comes an expanded palate of vineyards, some under JC's own name, but all uncompromising in their search for elegance and quality.

In the winery, the wines are delicately pressed, and with the exception of the Grand Crus see very little new oak. It is the purity here that is most captivating, a pristine minerality and distinctive character that many mimic but few achieve.

Reticent but pure aromas of white peach and hazelnut enlivened by a lemony high note. Fine-grained, silky, concentrated grand cru with excellent lemony acidity giving shape to the mid-palate and extending the long, perfumed, classically dry finish. Terrific potential here.
