The 2022 Les Pensées is aged in 25% new oak for 15 months, as usual, coming from the 0.7-hectare spur of sandy-gravel soils in the Lafleur vineyard. This is shy at first and demands coaxing. It opens with brambly red fruit, crushed rock, wilted rose petals, scents of tobacco percolating through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with layers of liquorice-tinged black fruit mixed with cracked black pepper, lightly spiced with impressive structure yet weightlessness on the tensile finish. The mineralité really comes through on this Les Pensées this year. Bon vin.
