How Pre-Arrival Works

These wines are currently on the way to Thatcher’s Wine. We have sourced them from some of our clients' private cellars, our friends in Europe, direct from the domaine or through our other trusted networks. On each product you will note an estimated time of arrival. Understand that these are only estimates, and to ensure that your wine arrives safely it may be longer. Utilizing this method allows us to offer some amazing wines and gives you the opportunity to secure them earlier. Upon arrival at TWC you will receive a notification and we will ship the wines to you.

Opening a bottle from Yann Durieux for the first time will leave you entirely stunned - his domaine is dubbed "Recrue des Sens", French for "Recruit of the Senses". Not just taste, not just smell, butfeel. Take that further - how does it feel? How does itmakeyou feel? Does it make you feel something that these Burgundies are not labeled as such? Strip that away and you can stillfeelthe focus, the depth, the texture, and the ceaseless energy each wine contains. These are Burgundy, yes, though not labeled as such; yet in style, complexity and utter grace they are what epitomizes Burgundy most.

Yann Durieux

Born in Burgundy, trained in Burgundy...sound familiar? Sure, but few underwent training like Yann. Tutored by Julien Guillot, perhaps one of the best pure "natural" winemakers in Burgundy, Yann then graduated to working for Henry Roch of Domaine Prieure Roch, with whom he spent a decade. For Burgundy lovers, the DPR wines have been among the hardest to secure, so few have gotten to experience the full range of the production. Take in the splendor of a talented winemaker cut in much of the same shape in Yann's wines, aiming to produce wines of similar purity and grace, with great individuality.

With a sharp eye for vineyards outside of the heart of the Cote, Yann has landed some spectacular and old vineyards, both purchased and leased. Predominantly in the Hautes Cotes de Nuits, some of his vineyards neighboring those of the great DRC's land, Yann has spared no expense or effort to extract the greatest quality, quantity be damned.
