2022 Domaine Sylvain Pataille, Marsannay, Clos du Roy
Originally known as “Le Clos des Ducs,” this vineyard was once the property of the Dukes of Burgundy. It was renamed Clos du Roy in 1477 after the defeat of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy. Located in Chenôve, Clos du Roy is the northernmost lieu-dit in the Marsannay appellation. Clos du Roy would undoubtedly be a Premier Cru, and a value within the hierarchy of Burgundy's elite. 100% whole-cluster pressing, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and aging for 18 months in barrel. The wine then undergoes 5 to 6 months of blending and settling in stainless steel tanks, with minimal sulfur added only at bottling.
