After taking hold of his family's estate formerly known as Domaine Robert Arnoux, Charles Lachaux also began his own micro-negociant label under his own name. Inspired by the great Aligoté wines of Lalou-Bize Leroy, he originally set out to only craft the one varietal; however, he was approached by many friends who became so impressed with his Domaine wines that they wished to share their vineyard sites with him. He now utilizes a wide range of vineyard sites to craft a fresher yet still beautiful group of wines.

Charles Lachaux

Charles Lachaux fell in love with Aligoté and needed to try his own hand with the varietal; with the great acclaim Charles received from his work from 2012 onward for his family's Domaine, the opportunities abounded for him to access some truly special vineyard sites for his micro-negoce project. He crafts the wines for his own label the very same as the Domaine wines - whole-cluster entirely for the red wines, and no new oak across the range. All of the wines are pressed very gently in their vertical press.

The one difference in style is the length of elevage: the wines sit in barrel for less than a year (only 1 new barrel is used for each the Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Boudots and Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots) before being bottled; the reason is to retain the most freshness possible and allow the wines to be immediately enjoyable - and he's succeeded, in spades!
