Lavender, lemon peel and incense practically assault the nose. The glossy palate offers a slightly Chablis-like combination of lemon pip piquancy and chalk suffusion, along with sappy, just-ripe Bartlett pear. The overall impression here is denser, marginally less animated and without the striking clarity and salinity of the corresponding 2020. That being said, the finish is formidably gripping in its evocations of pip piquancy, herbal pungency and chalk. If lucky enough to own bottles, I’d give them a bit more time – or, if desired, a lot more.
