"L'Anglore doesn't make rosé - they make Tavel and they make L'Anglore. These are wines that are just shy of being red, leaning to the high-toned, juicy, refreshing part of rosé we all find perfectly quaffable."

l'Anglore

Located just on the outskirts of Tavel in the Southern Rhone. Eric Pfifferling, now joined by his son Thibault, has been re-defining rosé since 2002. Eric has always known this area as home, and up until 2002 was a beekeeper while his grapes were sold off. The beautiful plots of land he has, replete with with galets and beautiful old vines were too perfect to keep "giving" away. Tavel, the only AOC 100% committed to making rosé, and in his wines we have a perfect prism through which to understand just why. The wines are pretty much always a blend from his 7 hectares of vineyards, which is primarily planted to Grenache, with Clairette Rose, Carignan and Cinsault. Since the beginning they have worked organically in the vineyards and in the cellar and free of SO2.

The rosés are made in more of a traditional Tavel fashion: heavier extraction creating full-bodied wines with balance of power and finesse. The reds are more of a classic Southern Rhone style given the ample sunshine, and a brilliant touch of mineral depending on the vintage, They get labeled as VDF simply because the government says so. The whites, well these come along so rarely, and these unicorns wine are each unique in their own way.
