The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques 1er Cru was the last cuvée to be picked and is completely destemmed this year. It has a vibrant, energetic bouquet of red cherries, wild strawberry and crushed stone aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers fleshy red fruit mixed with veins of blueberry, quite rounded and plush toward the finish. Its velvet texture renders this Gevrey deceptively approachable, but there is real structure underneath. Classy.
