The 2018 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru contains less whole-bunch fruit, at 10%, and is matured entirely in new oak. This was the only cuvée to demonstrate a little reduction on the nose, though it’s nothing to worry about at this stage, as there is plenty of intense blackberry and wild strawberry fruit laced with incense. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, saturated tannins and touches of fresh fig and blood orange toward the vibrant finish. This is, strangely, more approachable than the Les Amoureuses at the moment, but the class is here from start to finish. Superb.
