Be prepared for a step up in terms of structure and concentration - this is a taut wine, full of potential and vigor; this is a more floral, nutty wine with hints of a sweet green tone.

To so many of us, the great Raveneau and Dauvissat wines are held as hallowed, and for Tribut to have not only married a Dauvissat but also to have been tutored by the family has unlocked his entry into that of the potential greats.

Laurent Tribut

Laurent oversees 5 hectares of vines and crafts the wines with his daughter. Those vines were largely from a collection of village vineyards the Dauvissat family collected to one day give to their offspring should they elect to join the family business, and Laurent and Marie-Clotilde took full advantage of this opportunity, even making the wines at the Dauvissat family at first under the guidance of René and Vincent. Today, the Tribut winery is a few miles away, but they follow many of the same practices they learned from the family. All of the grapes are harvested by hand, and the wine is fermented in enamel tanks to avoid any ionic charges, and some of the wines are aged in used oak barrels.

The 2018 Chablis Côte de Léchet 1er Cru has a clean, fresh nose with touches of menthol and pine needles joining the citrus aromas, though it is never what you would call intense. The palate is the finest of Tribut’s 2018s, quite spicy with a dash of white pepper, fresh and slightly minty, especially toward the finish. It is not a long-term Côte de Léchet like the 2014 or 2017, but it is a well-crafted, enticing expression of this vineyard.
