The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru is not dissimilar to the Les Suchots in the sense that it is much stricter and more introspective than one would expect given the growing season. Beautifully defined black cherry and crushed strawberry fruit are here, but they feel tightly coiled at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and traces of dark chocolate filtering through the red berry fruit. This has perhaps the most confit finish of Grivot’s 2018s this year. Very good potential, although I just prefer the Aux Brûlées at the moment.
