Young vine Pinot Noir sourced from the “Les Lavières” vineyard in Aluze, planted on red-brown clay soils. The grapes are 40% whole cluster and fermented for over 1-2 weeks in stainless steel vats, with a combination of punch-downs and pump-overs. The wine is then aged for 10 months in a mix of used barrels (70%) and amphora (30%).

Antoine, who previously spent 8 years at Domaine Leflaive and has a stack of impressive educational degrees, brings a wealth of expertise and a refined touch to his own winemaking. Antoine’s portfolio also includes some Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines, which offer a nod to his former experience at Domaine Leflaive while maintaining its own unique character.

La Pierre Ronde (Antoine Lepetit de la Bigne)

While the caché of Domaine Leflaive on anyone's curriculum vitae would stand out, for Antoine Lepetit de Bigne it is but an important chapter in his story. After helping Anne-Claude Leflaive to open École Du Vin et des Terroir - an educational outpost for Burgundians looking to further their studies in viticulture & vinification - Antoine finally set out on his own following the Grande Dame of Leflaive's untimely death in 2015. He's gone on to become a premier consultant for biodynamic farming, and put his long contact list to use to create his own wines, starting in 2021.

Certainly his sharp eye for viticulture has impacted his choices of vineyard selection; his first selections in 2021 formed six white wines and one red. He's gone on to add more parcels, including some choice Premier & Grand Cru plots. In the winery, Antoine's methodology is to not obstruct or obscure the expression of terroir; with this in mind, he will often times blend multiple styles of fermentation & aging vessels to achieve the most purity. Thus, there are barrels, foudres and amphorae, the latter of which is a particularly unique one for Burgundy.

For both whites and reds there will be whole cluster inclusion, allowing a natural complexity to build from the perfectly ripe fruit & stems. If the first two vintages are any indication, La Pierre Ronde will revolutionize the micro-negociant landscape in his vision.
