As she follows the path set before her by smart mentors - to care for the vines, have passion and make wines you want to drink and share - we find in the young and talented Mathilde Savoye those philosophies aligned and on the same path, evidenced by her terrifically precise and expressive Pinot Meunier.
Mathilde has only crafted wine under her own label since she released the 2019-based vintage just last year. Born to a winemaking family, as so many of us do as grown-ups, she wanted to step away from what she knew; better yet, she wanted to do better. With her eponymous label, she set out to craft wines in the most hands-off method, with smart viticulture and with great passion. Her vineyard in the Marne valley is chock full of silt, clay and sand, conditions in which Meunier thrives, and she produces essentially the same wine crafted three different ways: a Brut, an Extra Brut and a Coteaux Champenois.
