Somehow the Languedoc is one of the few remaining wine regions where both the vignerons and the consumers can consistently find a strong value-to-quality ratio, despite being home to legends like Mas de Daumas Gassac, so called the "Lafite of the Languedoc". Guillaume and Hélène Baron were drawn to the region's potential, purchasing a 25-acre plot in 2014.
Guillaume has found incredible potential in the Rhône varietals such as Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre among others, eschewing the notion that wines from the Languedoc need to be rustic; much the opposite - the duo has crafted Rhône-like wines highlighted by their use of whole-cluster fermentations and gentle pump-overs to allow flavor development without harsh tannins. Les Ouvrées is half Syrah, with 35% Mourvedre and the rest Grenache, harvested from LImestone soils topped with sand and clay. Silky in texture with a broad spectrum of dark fruit aromas, hints of spice and beautiful lift.
